"A Morning With Paul Grossman & An Afternoon With the Vets."

Paula McCroskey and Janice Emerzian, Co-Chairs of the CAPED’s (California Association for Postsecondary Education and Disability) Program Management CIG, invite you to join other educators and rehabilitation professionals for a day packed with information on the ADA amendments and how they will impact postsecondary institutions and critical information on how we can best serve those who served us…Our returning veterans with a disability

Please mark your calendar and join us on:

May 14, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hall of Fame

Riverside City College Campus

The morning session will feature the “One and Only”, PAUL GROSSMAN, Chief Regional Attorney, Office of Civil Rights, and long time friend of CAPED, who address many of the legal issues confronting us as post-secondary educators and service providers for individuals with disabilities including returning veterans.

The afternoon session will expand on this and provide current information on the emerging issue of how we can best address the needs of our “Wounded Warriors”

The afternoon session will feature:

1) Dr. Karen White, Assistant Chancellor at the University of California Riverside who will speak on a unique scholarship program "Operation Education", a comprehensive, individualized scholarship program created to provide financial, academic and social support to veterans who acquired a disability while on active duty.

2) Bryon R. MacDonald, Program Director, California Work Incentives who will share with us what California is doing to pave the online road to 21st century tools for veterans;

3) A panel of veterans with a disability attending California post-secondary institutions who will share their experiences & post-secondary professionals who will present their college’s/university’s initiatives to assist veteran.

The cost of the workshop, including lunch, will be $50.00 (the same as last year). That's $50.00 cash only...no checks...no credit cards...and its PAY AT THE DOOR! Smile. Don't worry...we'll have printed receipts for you at the door so that you can submit for reimbursement! We're just trying to keep it simple!

Contact Paula (paula.mccroskey@rcc.edu) or Janice (emerzian@fresnocitycollege.edu) to reserve your spot.

Hope to see you on the 14th!

If you have a disability requiring accommodation, please call 951-222-8792 (ask for Patsy) or 951-222-3802 (ask for Joe) a minimum of one week prior to the event!
