THE COLLEGE: Founded in 1907, California College of the Arts is the largest regionally accredited, independent, nonprofit school of art and design in the western United States . Noted for the interdisciplinary nature and breadth of its programs, CCA offers studies in twenty undergraduate and eight graduate majors in the areas of fine arts, architecture, design, and writing. The college offers bachelor of architecture, bachelor of arts, bachelor of fine arts, master of architecture, master of arts, master of business administration, and master of fine arts degrees. With campuses in Oakland and San Francisco , CCA currently enrolls more than 1,650 full-time students.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Development, the Director of Access and Wellness Services is responsible for the oversight and coordination of all services for students with disabilities enrolled at California College of the Arts. The Director also provides leadership for a comprehensive campus wellness program and manages the Student Health Insurance program.

DEPARTMENT: Student Affairs
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Oversee, coordinate, and provide specialized services to students with physical, psychological and learning disabilities
- Analyze and interpret documentation to determine eligibility for reasonable accommodations
- Issue accommodation letters and arrange for accommodations, auxiliary aids, and/or access to necessary resources as appropriate
- Serve as an advocate for students with documented disabilities and work collaboratively with faculty and staff to provide accommodations for students
- Provide consultation and training to faculty and staff regarding the rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities in a higher education setting
- Hire and supervise sign language interpreters (as necessary)
- Arrange for work-study students and volunteers to serve as note takers, readers, and mobility assistants
- Help establish a campus culture that promote and nurture attitudes and behaviors encouraging students to make informed decisions about their health and wellness
- Develop and deliver health and wellness promotion programming covering topics such as substance abuse risk reduction, consensual sexual contact, healthy relationship development, and other related topics as identified.
- Manage and coordinate the Student Health Insurance program
- Collaborate with Student Accounts in maintaining accurate student insurance eligibility reports and coverage waivers
- Oversee the input and updating of Emergency / Medical Form data into student records
- Maintain confidential student records and files
- Prepare written reports, presentations, policies and procedures as requested by the Dean of Student Development or Vice President for Student Affairs
- Represents the Division of Student Affairs in student life matters, campus committees, and professional organizations
- Performs other duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree and/or equivalent experience in counseling, student personnel administration, adult education, social work, psychology, or other related field. Experience in administration of comparable programs. Substantial experience in disabilities work in Higher Education. Knowledge of ADA and Section 504. Excellent organizational, written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent analytical, problem solving and multi-tasking skills. Familiarity with PC Windows and strong computer skills in MS Word and Excel. Familiarity with and ability to apply technological innovations (such as assistive technology) to Student Affairs office operations. Experience using and supporting Datatel Colleague or similar ERP software preferred. Experience working with artists is highly desirable.
