CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The California Association for Postsecondary Education and Disability’s 36th Annual Convention
This year’s conference theme is based on a recognition that we need to refocus on the collaborations and partnerships that are required to get our services to the students that need them in order to achieve all that they have the potential to accomplish. The theme isn’t driven by the current State fiscal crisis, though it might, in itself, be ample reason to emphasize “Team-building & Solidarity.” The theme is driven by a realization that we need to continuously renew and invigorate the partnerships that facilitate the best and most seamless support for our students. There are critical roles that need to be played on the part of many essential partners in the road that stretches out ahead. Once again, we will draw on the resources and support of CHIIP (California Health Incentives Improvement Project) as a co-sponsor for our convention. In addition, we look forward to putting forth the challenge to our consumers/students to reactivate their CAPED Interest Group (CIG), as well as to extend a call for greater involvement by our disability, mental health, Veterans and student health colleagues in the California State University, University of California and private colleges and universities, as well as the California Community Colleges, the CA Department of Rehabilitation, our colleagues in the Veteran’s Administration, those involved in disabilities research and education, and our exhibitors and sponsors.
The convention program is designed to provide topical sessions within tracks, thereby making every effort to avoid having similar topical sessions occurring at the same time. Please look for future announcements regarding the tracks that will be structured into the program. In addition, the program is designed to provide strands on specific areas of emphasis, allowing professionals to accumulate CEUs through single day attendance. We will give priority to proposals that highlight innovative programs, collaborative efforts (within institutions and community based), creative/collaborative funding possibilities and best practices within our broad areas of practice.
