Martha Kanter,
(ON SUNDAY) Under Secretary of
Education, nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the
Senate in 2009, is the first community college leader (she is the former
President of DeAnza Community College and the former Chancellor of the Foothill
DeAnza Community College District) to serve in the undersecretary position. She oversees
policies, programs, and activities related to postsecondary education, adult
and career-technical education, federal student aid, and White House
Initiatives on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Educational Excellence
for Hispanics, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribal Colleges

Kareem Dale, (ON
SUNDAY) Associate Director White House
Office of Public Engagement & Special Assistant to the President for
Disability Policy. Dale coordinates the
Administration's efforts to see that people with disabilities are on a level
playing field with all Americans. Originally from Chicago, he previously
served as the National Disability Director for the Obama for America
campaign. He also served on the Arts Policy Committee and the Disability
Policy Committee for then-Senator Obama. Dale graduated from the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor's degree in Advertising
in May 1995. He received his JD/MBA in May 1999 from the University of

Jonathan Mooney, (ON
MONDAY) author of "The Short Bus", is a young man who was once
labeled “severely learning disabled” but now journeys across America to find
others who have used humor, imagination, and resiliency to create satisfying
lives beyond “normal.” He hit the road on an epic journey across the U.S. on a
broken-down short bus. His inspiring record of this odyssey documents Mooney’s
search to help himself, by learning from others, once labeled abnormal, who had

Susan Daniels, (ON
TUESDAY) a nationally recognized expert and spokesperson on employment and
disability policy who has more than 25 years of executive experience
leading Federal agencies, academic institutions and philanthropic organizations
through development, change and innovation. Daniels has been a leader in
advocacy, human rights and disability activism to achieve social justice and
economic parity.... Her long career in the service of the disabled has been
acknowledged by numerous awards and honors, the most recent of them being the
Presidential Citation by Rehabilitation International, “The Henry Betts Award,”
Honorary Doctor of Public Administration, University of Illinois, and the

Karen White, PhD, PT, Chair of the Operation Education program for Veterans with
disabilities and adjunct lecturer for the UC Riverside Biomedical Program is
perhaps better known as the wife of UCR Chancellor Dr. Timothy P. White. She says, “As a physical therapist and
concerned citizen, I have had the opportunity to meet many injured veterans — men
and women who have made immense sacrifices to help protect our nation. I wanted
to find a way to say thank you to them for all they have done. As an
institution of higher learning, the University of California, Riverside has the
unique opportunity to provide the gift of an education. This gift can change
lives, open doors, and provide opportunities for years to come.” Her

Ralph Black, Esq. and Paul D.
Grossman, Esq, (On Wednesday) both former
recipients of CAPED’s prestigious Lanterman Award and back by popular DEMAND! Paul
Grossman is the internationally known Chief Regional Attorney with the Office
of Civil Rights and Ralph Black, is the former chief counsel for the California
Community College Chancellor’s Office and Assistant Director of Legislation for
the California Department of Rehabilitation. Both are longtime disability
advocates, recipients of the prestigious Lanterman Award and dedicated friends
and supporters of CAPED, will present their annual (standing room only)”Legal
Updates: The Year in Review.”
