ADAPTED PHYSICAL EDUCATION – CAPED Interest Group (APE-CIG)

What is the Adapted Physical Education CIG?

The APE-CIG provides adapted physical education professionals with the opportunity to collaboratively ensure the quality of adapted physical education at the postsecondary level across the state.

APE-CIG Goals:

  • To facilitate the exchange of information among personnel providing adapted physical education classes, assessment and programs for students with disabilities at the postsecondary level.
  • To promote awareness and understanding of the benefits of physical activity for all individuals.
  • To provide support, encouragement and a forum for communication to adapted physical education professionals

The APE-CIG welcomes all who provide service to and are interested in the discipline of adapted physical education.

Resources

Over the past five years, members of the APE-CIG have produced the California Community Colleges Adapted Physical Education Handbook, which is available on-line through the Chancellor’s Office web site (see link below). This handbook is an invaluable tool for APE practitioners and administrators alike. The handbook can be found at: http://www.cccco.edu/divisions/ss/disabled/adapted_phy_handbk.htm
